You ride. We handle the rest.

Most of the work of a Keys bike trip is logistics. That's the part we're good at.

  1. Tell us what you want

Call or send the form. A few days or a full week, your pace and your distance.

  2. We plan your route

We map the route so you don't miss anything and tell you the best places to stay along the way.

  3. Your bike comes to you

Delivered to your hotel with a helmet, lock and spares, fitted with your own pedals if you bring them.

  4. Your bags go ahead

Luggage is waiting at the next hotel before you arrive. Pannier bags are available for the ride.

  5. Leave the bike in Key West

Keep it until you head home. We pick it up.

Why we ride south

Aerial view of the Overseas Highway crossing turquoise water between two Keys

The tailwind is built in.

The prevailing wind in the Keys blows from the northeast most of the year, so our routes run Key Largo to Key West with the wind at your back. No doubling back into a headwind.

And on the SAG tour, so is our support vehicle, the whole way to Key West.

Good to know before you go

  • Much of the route follows the Overseas Heritage Trail, a paved path beside US-1.
  • Where the trail meets the bridges you ride a wide bridge shoulder. We'll tell you exactly where.
  • Flying in? The Keys Shuttle runs from the airport to Keys hotels and to the rental car office by our shop.
  • Customers can park at the shop while they ride.
  • Just want a bike for a local ride? We rent those too, with maps and trail advice.

More than the ride

Build rest days into your trip. Patrick can help you set up a fishing trip or a local history tour, and point you to the best of the rest.

Fishing charters

Islamorada calls itself the sportfishing capital of the world. Backcountry flats for bonefish and tarpon, or offshore for mahi and sailfish. Patrick can help set it up.

MM 102

Snorkeling & diving

John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, the first undersea park in the US, is a short ride from the start of your tour.

MM 91

Kayak & paddleboard

Glide through mangrove tunnels and the shallows of Florida Bay with a local guide, or rent and explore on your own.

MM 80

Sandbar & boat days

Spend an afternoon on the water at the Islamorada sandbar, or charter a boat for sunset.

MM 48

Turtle Hospital

A favorite stop in Marathon on the way south. See sea turtles being rescued and rehabilitated.

MM 0

Key West, off the bike

Sunset at Mallory Square, the Hemingway House, and a slice of key lime pie. We'll point you to the good spots.

Local riders, not a call center

We're not too big to call. When you phone, you talk to the people who run your trip.

Patrick Fitzgerald and Mark Terrill on a palm-lined beach in the Florida Keys
Patrick and Mark, on the beach in the Keys

Patrick Fitzgerald and Mark Terrill have ridden these islands for years. Patrick, a former Big Ten wrestler at Purdue, runs the shop in Tavernier and every trip day to day. He calls before your ride to go over the plan and is on the route to make sure it all goes right. Mark came to the Keys in 1994 and knows the history and lore of every stop along the way.

Questions riders ask

Still wondering if this trip is for you? Here are the answers to what people ask us most. Anything else, just call.

How fit do I need to be?

If you can ride 2 to 3 hours with breaks, you can do this. The Keys are flat, and the tailwind helps. On the SAG tour the support vehicle can pick you up anytime, so nobody gets left behind. The 3-day tour keeps each day around 30 to 40 miles.

Do you have e-bikes?

Yes. E-bikes are available, and they make the longer days easy for any rider. Ask about one when you book.

When is the best time to ride?

November through April is peak season, with cooler, drier weather and the steadiest northeast tailwind. Summer rides are hot, so we start early. Hurricane season runs June through November, and we'll watch the forecast with you.

What should I bring?

A helmet is required. Bring a front light and a rear flasher, two full water bottles, a spare tube and your phone. A bright, high-visibility top is a good idea. Add padded bike shorts, sunglasses, sunscreen and a swimsuit for the beach stops. Bringing clip-in pedals and shoes? We'll put them on your bike.

What happens to my luggage?

We carry it. Your bags go ahead to the next hotel each day, so all you carry is what you want on the bike.

How do I get to Key Largo?

Fly into Miami or Fort Lauderdale. The Keys Shuttle runs from the airport to Keys hotels and to the rental car office near our shop, and customers can park at the shop while they ride.

How do deposits and cancellations work?

A 50% deposit holds your spot. Cancel 30 or more days before your ride for a full refund. Inside 30 days, you get a rain check good for up to one year.

Plan your ride

Tell us when you're coming and how you like to ride. We'll call you back with a plan.
